And to think I saw it on Lytton Street!

Over the last few weeks Room 18 have been working on creating our own stories, based around TO think I saw it on Mulberry Street.
Here are some of our stories! Enjoy reading...remember they are supposed to be silly, just like Dr Seuss!! Keep an eye out for the rest of our work.

We had to

- create a picture plan
- build onto each sentence
- have a noun, verb and adjective in our sentences
- try to use a linking sentence between, such as It can be better than that

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A car going to park.
A truck going to help a car.
An ice cream car stopping in the street.
A cereal box lying on the ground.
The big cereal box getting carried away. But wait, that’s no good. I can see nuts popping out of the box.
Hi Mum, all I saw today was a car going to park in a parking spot.

By Destiny

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A big fat old truck on the road.
A big fat old truck with a a trailer on the back.
But wait...what about a loud radio singing?

Well, that’s a bit boring! How about a horn on the top.

It can be better than that! Some boosters on the back of the truck.
It can be better that that though. A big fat old truck on the road.

When I got home when Mum asked me what I had seen on the way to school all I said was “I saw was a big fat truck.”

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A car driving down the street.
A car doing skids , no wait suddenly the car crashed and it caught on fire. A banana fireman came to put out the fire and a man came too.

No but wait...I can see an elephant walking down the road.

Hold on..what about an elephant walking down the road, towing with a carriage on the back, covered with spaghetti and the people diving into the spaghetti.

No that’s too boring, what about it started to raining chocolate and marshmellows!!
Now that is cool!

When I got home when Mum asked me what I had seen on the way to school all I said was
“A car driving down the street.”

By Iuean

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A dog walking on the street. Naa.. not that. A strong dog. Wait, a deadly dog! Don’t that though. How about a dog chasing a cat. Do you like that? I want a monster dog in war. That’s boring. A crazy dog with a knife gun.
But when I got home “Hey Dad, all I saw was a dog walking on the street.”

By Zachary

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

I saw a puppy on a lead on a road.
Oh no! A pink puppy pulling a truck.
Oh no , a pink puppy pulling a truck and with a booster on her back and a balloon.
But wait...what about a pink puppy pulling a truck and a balloon with a monkey on top.
But wait...that’s boring. A pink leopard pulling a truck with a monkey on top and a big ice cream.
When I got home when Mum asked me what I had seen on the way to school all I said was
“ I only saw a puppy.”

By Meagan

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A puppy running down the road. It can better than that.
I saw a ginger puppy with a blue truck behind it. But wait...what about a rainbow monkey behind the truck and playing upside down? Oh that’s a bit boring.
What about a bat adding a blue hat on the top of the truck? I can add more than that. What about a twirl on top of the hat going around and around? It can be way better than that. What about a ear beside the twirl. That’s odd. Let’s have an ear going up and down on the the twirl. Next I could have a monkey swinging off a piece of wood.

But when I get home all I say to Dad “All I saw today was a puppy running down the street.”

By Jaimee

And to think that I saw it on Lytton Street...

A wagon with a horse dragging its legs along the road. Oh wait on a second there is a zooming bee that wants to sting me...nah..that’s odd.

Hold on, what about a cat chasing behind the wagon and trying to catch up. How about a cat with a hat or a cat with a hat with a lamp on top? Now that the better sentence you ever bet!

So when I get home all I say to Dad is “All I saw was a wagon with a house.”

The Lorax

Posted by Picasa

Room 18 have been doing art around the Lorax. Heres what we had to do:
First we had to paint our paper. Then cut and glue on our coloured grass.
After that we had to draw our tree in chalk then paint it.
Then we drew our Lorax on white paper and painted it light or dark brown.
We cut it out and glued it on and then we had finished!

This is our collage of our work!

We are learning to work with others

Posted by Picasa

In the first 3 days of school we focused on the Habit of Mind: Working with Others.
Here are our photos to show what Working with Others Looks Like. We worked in a group and had to somehow show the class what we thought Working With Others would look like. We then had to explain it. Here are our photos - how do you think we went?
